Our environmental project for Year 5 is exploring how to 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' and how we can action this at school. So far, we have worked on reducing the number of photocopies we make: not ony reducing energy costs but also the amount of paper we are using. We made some 'Think before you print' signs for everyone's computers. Each term, we let the classes know how they are doing. In the first term, we reduced it by 5,738 copies! We have also made signs for the bins around school to ensure the right things can be recycled. We have also made some signs to encourage the classes to switch off their smartboards at night as we noticed many were left on. Our metal recyclers have also been very busy collecting scrap metal and cans which we crush. We then take these to EMR recycling to raise money for our nature area. We are taking part in the Buutterfly Farmer project this year and will be creating our own butterfly garden - we can't wait to share the details with you! Take a look at some of the pages from our floor book.
