We are a one form entry primary school which was established in September 2013 and we pride ourselves on being at ‘The heart of the Community’.
Our website has been designed to provide all the essential information about our school and we hope that you find it easy to use. It is regularly being updated with news, events and all the key dates for the year but If you do have any enquiries, or require a hard copy of any of the documents available, please contact Mrs Seal via the school office.
We had our first trip out to the Enchanted Gardens in Whitstable as part of our project – The Butterfly Farmer. We had such a great day learning about butterfly friendly plants and the things butterflies need to survive and grow in number. We are going to use this knowledge to design and then create our own butterfly garden on our school field so we can be part of the butterfly corridor in Kent. We’ve decide to dedicate this garden to Dr Jane Goodall who inspired so many of our environmental projects in school.
Year 2 have been enjoying learning about bees this term, and this week, on official World Bee Day, we were lucky enough to have a bee-keeper here to visit us! She brought some of her equipment to show us, some honey to try, and even brought in an observation hive full of honey bees! We all had a good look inside and tried to spot the queen bee but she was too good at hiding! The children learned so many new facts about bees and are excited to share them with everyone!
Angora Class have been exploring what life was like when our grandparents were young, including interviewing some visiting grandparents to hear their stories first-hand. In English, we studied The Gruffalo and enjoyed a drama workshop with Ian from KiC Theatre. In Maths, we focused on understanding place value to 10. In Design and Technology, the class learned about stable structures and created their own sturdy pencil pots. As part of our environmental focus, we completed a litter pick around the school to explore how litter affects our environment and ways we can help care for...
The whole school celebrated VE Day together. During the week, Mrs de Roeck held an assembly to teach us all about VE Day: what happened on that day and why we like to remember it. We started with a whole school lunch on the field (fish and chips in a bag) and then played lots of traditional games including marbles, croquet, skipping and capture the flag. We finished the day singing our National Anthem.
