The importance of bees (Yr2)

Bee Protectors - Year 2 Our environmental project for Year 2 is looking at the importance of bees. So far, we have learned about the different types of bees and why they are important to humans. We were very lucky to have a visit from a local beekeeper and we got to sample some honey. We have now started planning our 'Bee Garden' which is going to be next to our vegetable garden. Composting (Yr4)

Compost Champions - Year 4 Our environmental project for Year 4 is looking at composting. This includes why composting is important and how we do it. So far, we have tidied the composting area and set up a rota for collecting tea bags, fruit/vegetable peelings, grass cuttings and also shredded paper. Take a look at some of the pages from our floor book.

Looking after water (Yr3)

Water Warriors - Year 3 Our environmental project for Year 3 is looking at how we can save water in our school and what we can use it for. So far, we have arranged for each class to have a water can so they can empty their water bottles into them at the end of the day. Our monitors then empty these into the water butts we've installed. In the summer, we will use this to water all of our lovely plants! In class, we have also made posters to put next to the sinks in the classroom to remind everyone to do this. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Yr5)

Recycling Renegades - Year 5 Our environmental project for Year 5 is exploring how to 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle' and how we can action this at school. So far, we have worked on reducing the number of photocopies we make: not ony reducing energy costs but also the amount of paper we are using. We made some 'Think before you print' signs for everyone's computers. Each term, we let the classes know how they are doing. In the first term, we reduced it by  5,738 copies!
